Westciv CSS and web standards learning resources - web pages aren't printed on paper

How I gave up trying to "control" web pages and discovered adaptability. Examines the difference the web and the design medium which seems to most influence it: paper. Explains how the conventions and constraints of this old medium should not be taken for granted as we "cross over", because many of them were in fact grave limitations of paper which are overcome on the web. Includes some basic techniques for building adaptability into web design.

Assessment

This appears to be an article promoted by a site on web development.

  • Fixed widths abound in CSS. At least, when you turn CSS off, there are no <table>s to contend with. But the page clearly can't fit my perfectly ordinary window.

  • The title is good, but the description is a bit poor — it doesn't say much more than the title.

  • The font size of the main text is set to 75%. What for?

Looks like they've got someone in to do the site design, but that person hasn't read the content.
