Can it be done with only relatively slight changes?

Trying to replace much of the workings of the RISC OS multitasking system is likely to be very hard, and very disruptive. Perhaps RISC OS already has enough infrastructure to do what we want? For example, there are the various handlers which make up the program environment, including upcalls, kernel events and module service calls — can we get away with defining a few new ones of these?
